Emily de Molly The Fifth Element

Today, I have a very quick swatch for of Emily de Molly's The Fifth Element.  Not only is this polish named after one of my favorite movies but its also very striking.

The Fifth Element has red and teal hex glitters and teal micro glitter in a turquoise base.  The application was easy and full coverage was achieved with two coats.   Emily de Molly polishes are hard to find.  I lucked out and happened upon a restock on Llarowe.  You have to camp out for this brand because its popular and hard to get.

I will add a bottle shot soon to this post but for now, feast your eyes on...

I'm baaaack and Revlon Girly Swatch

So, I warned you that grad school was going to drastically alter my posting but I never planned on taking a month and a half hiatus.  I finished the semester with a hard fought 4.0 and maintained my overall gpa of a 4.0 so its all good!

At any rate, I did NOT take a hiatus from buying polish and I have soo many polishes to share with you.   I actually hit over 900 polishes recently and most of those are unblogged!  Check out my ever-expanding stash list under my Polish Stash tab above.

So, one of my newest polishes is Revlon's Girly.  Its glitterbomb in a pink base with light pink, fuchsia, and purple hex glitters and pink micro glitter.   There is no fishing for glitter with Girly BUT you may want to consider layering over another color.  My swatch below has 3 coats and it gets a little thick and unwieldy when it requires that many layers.   Still, its worth the drying time if you have it because Girly is a must have:)

Also, as you may notice, my nails are super short.  I am debating what to do about them but none of my options are great.  I may get falsies, give my nails a long break, or work really hard with some treatments and TLC to get them back in shape.  Something must be done...

Anyway, I don't know how often I will be back but I will try to post at least once a week with swatches or nail art and more often with polish purchases.

Thanks,
Char

Different Dimension To the Moon and Back

Another lovely mix from Different Dimensions, this one is called To the Moon and Back.  The name of this polish takes me back to the 90s, riding the bus on school events and blaring Savage Garden's To the Moon and Back.  Ah, memory lane!  Anyway this polish has a cool shimmery blue base with dark blue and silver micro glitters and silver star and moon glitters.   I just noticed I missed some clean up but it doesn't take away from the beauty of this polish.  Yep, this one is a keeper!

October BCA Week 2, Mani Number 2!

Still on the decal kick I made breast cancer ribbon decals with the rest of the nails covered in Claire's hot pink candy shop-esque polish.  My accent nail is Color Club's Blushing Rose.

Nails, Inc Pudding Lane

I was able to score a $10 Sephora gift card from a Wrapp app offer.   Since this Sprinkles collection polish has been on my list for a while I bought it first.  My husband proclaimed that it looks like a "formica table from the 60s or 70s!"  This is what I get for asking him about my manicures!  At any rate, I love the effect of this polish.  It goes on easy and covers great in just a couple of coats!

Candeo Mallard!!!

Yes, yes...I finally own one of my I'll-die-if-I-don't-have-it lemming, Candeo Mallard and it was soooooo worth the wait!   Plumage is pretty too, don't get me wrong but I've waited soooo long for Mallard!

China Glaze Blue Iguana topped with Crow's Toes Absolum

Just a quick swatch of my one and only Crows Toes polish, Absolum.  I paired it up with China Glaze Blue Iguana.

Stamped Butterfly Wing Nails

I was over my KC It Purple and FP Motley mani and I wanted to try out the butterfly wing stamp on the Vivid Lacquer  002 plate.

It needed a little bit more after that so I applied teal hex glitters and covered them with some L.A. Colors iridescent glitter.

I have to say, this butterfly wing mani was WAY easier than the freehand version.  The wing image is a little large and I beleive that Vivid Lacquer added a smaller wing image on her newest plates.

Anyway...what's better than glittery, sparkly butterfly wings?  Nothing!

Discount Polish Haul, Sally Nail Mail, and a swatch of Vegas Night

A recent trip to my favorite discount beauty store yielded some more Kleancolor polishes as well as one more Ruby Kisses HD polish in Mystic Aurora.  Vegas Night had me drooling so I did a swatch that you can see at the end of this post and it. is. STUNNING!

On top of that, I also took a late night trip to Walgreens and found these two Black Radiance polishes.  The glitters in Party Girl Rock called out to me and B-girl was so stunning I just had to buy them.  There were two extra of each that I bought for a giveaway or nail polish RAOK.

In the same trip I also bought these Sinful Colors polishes.  They are soo perfect for Fall and Fig is like Dream On in its pretty factor but nicely toned down for colder months.  Winterberry is a frosty purple grey and I can't wait to see it on!  I am a sucker for blue polishes and I didn't already have Rain Storm and Ciao Bella so I snapped them up.

Yep, more from the Walgreens trip.  I finally saw the Wet N Wild Fergie polishes everyone was raving about but was soo bummed because the Walk of Fame star glitter was sold out!  (as if that ever stopped me--I later found two WoF at another Walgreens a couple of days later--awesome!)  I love the look of all of these!

I rarely buy InstaDri anymore but I saw these.  They both have a shimmer that is hard to tell in this picture but they'll look stunning on nails!

On one of my FB nail polish groups, someone shared that Sally Beauty had a super great sale on China Glaze polishes for $2.99.  The deepest discount only showed when you signed in to the beauty members account.  I filled up my cart with these 10 polishes and found a promo code that gave me an additional $5 off orders of $25 or more.  My total for these was a little over $30!

Last, I leave you with that Kleancolor Vegas Night swatch.  It speaks for itself!

Sparkles by Julie's Lost In Space

A few months ago I bought Sparkles by Julie's Lost in Space and sadly, its been languishing in my indie polish stock pile without being worn.  I had a left hand that needed polish so I thought I should take the opportunity to use Lost in Space.

Lost in Space is an inky black base with silver micro and larger hex glitter and blue glitters.   It reminds me to those graphics in movies where space crafts warp through space and you see flashes of the stars passing by.

Brilliant, bold, yet...not over the top.

Year of Polish Challenge Catch Up: Rock Star Nails aka Week 29

While grad school has been kicking my butt this summer semester, my nail art/blog/facebook/and overall pouring over other nail art blogs and images has suffered.

I decided I couldn't skip the 5 weeks that I've missed of the year of Polish challenge so I am making them up when I can and getting back on track.....until grad school kicks my butt again!

Here's my quick Rock Star mani with Pretty and Polished's Punk'd Up Betty.

Punk'd was MADE for rock star nails, just sayin'!

Nail Mail from Pretty and Polished - Pool Party swatch...

I finally was able to score Punk'd Up Betty and Pool Party from Pretty and Polished.  The more popular Pretty and Polished polishes get, the harder it is to score them.  Thankfully Chelsea did a recent pre-order option.

With out further ado...

Don't worry, not only will Punk'd Up Betty soon be swatched buuuuuuuut....

I bought an extra one for a giveaway soon :)

I won some polish!!

Llarowe just had an incredible giveaway with over 150 winners.   I was one of those lucky, lucky winners and the polish I won was Hits Pega Pega!   I couldn't wait so I had to take off two layers of glitter to do another mani!

Pega Pega is absolutely stunning but needed an accent nail or two so I looked towards my indie polish stash and found Lacquer Convention's Snap, Crackle, Pop.  It goes perfectly with Pega Pega!

Snap, Crackle, Pop is full of purple, fuchsia, black, and white glitters of various sizes.  It brushes on smoothly and with only two coats it covers well.  Once you apply a topcoat, this glitter takes on a lot of depth and sparkles like crazy!  Its. Beautiful!

Phat Camp, OMG!

Yet another beauty from Pretty and Polished's Camp Collection, Phat Camp does not disappoint! It has small fuchsia glitters, purple glitter shards, and large blue hex glitters in a clear base.

I am LOVING this mani!

The next pic was with flash and not great but I had to show you how crazy cool the glitters look in this light!

Orly Glam FX Fun

I did these nails for the ORLY Glam FX nail contest and THEN read the rules.  I only used two Glam FX colors and they require three so I am probably going to go and buy a couple of others but I do love how these turned out!

For these nails, I started with a base coat of ORLY rubberized and then pained half of each nail with Mysterious Curse and the other half with Blue By You.   I then overlapped Can't be Tamed in the middle with Spazmatic so that they each had a little on the opposite side.  Last, I did a generous swish of Chunky Holo Bluebell down the middle of the nail for a vertical gradient effect.

The pictures do not do these nails justice.  In the sun they sparkle so amazing.  Back to the drawing board on the contest nails but do try something like these?  So beautiful!

Got in a few more polishes and two swatches

I finally got my full size Lush Lacquer order in and I can't say enough about how beautiful Dippin Dots and Lite Brite are!

I did two coats of Lite Brite over two coats of Wednesday.

Ross was a mess the other day but I did find this unnamed Cosmetic Arts polish.  Its a smoky pink glitter that is very unique looking!

Last, I finally got around to using Pahlish's Toxic and Timeless.  I painted on two coats of OPI's Just Spotted the Lizard.  Then put on two coats of Toxic and Timeless on all but my ring fingernail.  Last I put on two coats of Orly's Spazmatic.
