Super Quick Mani: Another Chirality Mystery Polish and a Peita's Polish LE

I know, I know-- it has been a while.  Since I last posted many, many milestones of epic proportions have occurred.  For one, I am now fully graduated with a masters degree.   Additionally, it wasn't just my last semester of grad school that was making me feel very tired and nauseated.  (drum roll)

We found out we are expecting our first child at the end of June!  Perfect timing right?  Well, let me tell you...all my good intentions to begin blogging again went to the wayside during the duration of my first trimester because I couldn't handle strong smells.  BBQ, citrus, nail polish, cleaning supplies, etc made me want to hurl. 

In two years I have never had as many sets of naked nails as I have these last 14 weeks.   But I do feel better, the holidays were great, and the fumes don't bother me as much so I painted my nails tonight and took pics.

Onto the polish...

You know I adore Chirality polishes, especially the Mystery ones.   This was my most recent Chirality purchase and its a beauty.  The color is a sooty violet holo that I am calling Burnt Amethyst.  Its an understated scattered holo with highly pigmented color.  Chirality polishes can be purchased here and more specifically you can get your own mystery polish (at your own risk) here.  Of course, you may or may not get a holo!

Also, although I didn't mix up a lot of polish in the last few months, I did participate in a polish maker swap with a handful of ladies from Austrailia, Denmark, Brazil, Canada, and the United States.  Peita of Peita's Polish participated as well and sent everyone a special matte and metallic glitter topcoat full of purple circle glitter varying finishes and sizes.

I do love circle glitter and it works well with the Chirality Burnt Amethyst polish.  Take a chance on either of these indie brands and you won't be disappointed.  You can buy Peita's Polishes here but just be aware that since Peita is in Australia, your shipping will be steep, $15 for just one bottle. Dotti, as far as I know, is not available to buy but keep an eye out and she may post it or a similar polish!

As for bebe, we don't know if it will be a boy or girl yet but that should be easy to figure out by my next ultrasound.  Maybe I'll announce with a franken!  We'll see.

Mentality's Fervor

I have been eying Mentality's Fervor for quite a while and finally bought it.   Dictionary.com describes the definitions of fervor as "great warmth and earnestness of feeling" or "intense heat." 
It is an apt name because I am feeling all hot, and bothered, and earnest about this holo.

Maybe I'm just a holo-aholic but this polish is my new best friend.  I told the maker Hillary that Fervor was going to get me fired because it was so mesmerizing I knew I'd spend all day looking at it.  As you can see from the bottle shot below, Fervor is a light purple linear holographic nail polish that  promises to shoot rainbows off your nails. 

It took three, thin coats for full coverage and I topped it off with one coat of Seche for quicker drying.  The application was easy and the finish was smooth.  Let's let the pics speak for themselves!

What is not to love about Fervor?  Are you fanning yourself?

Unique Purple Ombre Nails: Week 23 of the Year of Polish Challenge

This week in the Year of Polish Challenge is Ombre nails.  While I've seen Ombre nails all over the place, these type of nails are a first for me.  I wanted the ombre effect with some shimmer so I used Tokyo Pearl in different amounts mixed with an unnamed dark dark dark purple Ulta Polish.  (Brownie points if you have any clues to the name of the unnamed!) to get the different shades of shimmery purple.  I used a toothpick to mix the polishes together and used a large nail art brush to apply the shades to my nails.

The Unnamed Ulta Polish is hard to capture on camera so I took this extra picture to show you the deep purple hue.  

Teardrop rhinestones and Julep's Charlotte

I recently ordered Julep polish during a two for one sale and one of the polishes I bought was Julep's Charlotte. Charlotte is a light, airy purple and so very feminine.    I happen to adore purple polish and, since my name is Charlotte,  what is not to love?  I painted my nails this pretty purple but then thought...it needs something.  Obviously, this blog is not about polish swatches so I had to go the extra mile here on these nails.

MASH Rain Drop Rhinestones*

These nails were very simple.  I painted my nails with two coats of Charlotte after applying a clear base coat.  I then uses a small nail art brush dipped in Gold Coin to paint a rain drop shape at the top middle of each nail.  I then applied a small amount of an old topcoat I had (that has dried out and thicken a bit) to each rain drop shape and applied five different colors of tear drop rhinestones to each hand.  Loving the rhinestones and Julep's Charlotte.  Now what to wear to show off these nails!

*Tip*  If you have a steady hand, you might try doing the gold surrounding each rhinestones after you've glued them to your nail, especially if you think you might make the gold raindrop smaller than the rhinestone.  You want the gold polish to appear like the rhinestone is set in gold.  There is no set way to do this but without a steady hand you are better off free-handing the larger gold rain drop first and then applying the rhinestone.  Good luck!
